Arcadis breaks into top 3 in building sector category amidst record number of submissions
Building Design & Construction (BD+C), a leading business content platform serving the commercial buildings industry, has released its latest Giant 400 Report rankings, with Arcadis arriving at #2 on the list of top 140 retail sector architecture and architecture engineering (AE) firms for 2023. This is the first time Arcadis has appeared in the rankings. CRTKL, now part of Arcadis’ newly formed Architecture & Urbanism (A&U) group, has appeared multiple times.
Every year, BD+C conducts a survey of large U.S. architecture, engineering and constructions firms. The results inform its annual rankings of top firms performing work across a range of categories including convention centers, health care and hospitality.
Combining IBI Group and CRTKL, Arcadis is now one of the largest Architectural Practices in the world. In the retail space, Arcadis forecasts a not-too-distant future in which brick-and-mortar stores deliver an authentic experience that differs dramatically from online shopping and speaks to the changing behavior of the new consumer.
Retail environments from shopping malls to food halls are reimagined around flexibility, inclusivity and community, effectively drawing people back to traditional shops. Mixed-use spaces become blended, creating a seamless lifestyle ecosystem that supports how people live, work and play.
Matt Billerbeck, Global Practice Group Director for Retail of Architecture & Urbanism for Arcadis, said:
“When Arcadis is named in the rankings of prestigious publications such as the Building Design & Construction’s Giant 400 Report, it is not only a source of pride, but it also motivates and inspires us about what’s possible for 2024.”
Other notable placements include a top five finish for Arcadis on the list of AE firms for nonresidential building and multifamily housing work.
BD+C has ranked AEC firms for nearly half a century. A record number of firms were evaluated by the platform this year. Read the full story.
