Arcadis and Evocra continue to advance ozone foam fractionation treatment technology for PFAS removal

Ovivo takes ownership of United States and Canada license.

Latest deal reinforces Arcadis’s position as a leader in innovative PFAS treatment solutions worldwide.

Highlands Ranch, CO, July 18, 2024 – Arcadis, a leading global design and consultancy organization for natural and built assets, today announced it will utilize Ovivo, a global provider of water and wastewater treatment equipment, technologies, and systems, to manufacture full-scale innovative per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) treatment technology using ozone fractionation, patented by Evocra, in North America.

Ovivo has recently been granted exclusivity of the Evocra ozone fractionation technology in the United States and Canada. In North America, under a sublicense agreement, Arcadis will collaborate with Ovivo for manufacturing and installation of full-scale Evocra systems specifically in the Federal market, including projects with the United States Department of Defense, as well as on private/industrial projects.

Arcadis continues to be the global license holder of the Evocra ozone fractionation technology, with exceptions in Australia and New Zealand where Evocra holds this right, and in the US and Canada where Ovivo has now been granted this exclusivity. Established in 2020, the original agreement with Evocra allowed Arcadis to leverage the Evocra IP to advance the ozone foam fractionation technology by piloting it with Arcadis North American clients.

Arcadis remains committed to implementing Evocra technology globally, tailored to Arcadis’s multi-national client needs. The agreement with Evocra secures Arcadis’s rest-of-world licensing position for the technology. This strategic approach reinforces Arcadis's position as a leader in innovative PFAS treatment solutions worldwide. Arcadis intends to replicate agreements like that with Ovivo to work with local original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to support efficient manufacturing and delivery of exclusive Evocra products globally.

Brooke Bonkoski, Business Area Director, US Resilience Environment at Arcadis, said: “Arcadis is proud to deliver on critical PFAS treatment solutions through collaboration across various industry leaders. Working with Ovivo enhances Arcadis's ability to deliver across traditional industrial and federal markets and opens avenues to support the application of the technology in the municipal market. Arcadis remains committed to fostering clean technologies, providing tailored solutions, and contributing to environmental sustainability on a global scale.”

Frank Lenzo, Environmental Restoration Technical Solutions Leader at Arcadis, said: “Ovivo’s success with its electrochemical oxidation technology and its use of ozone fractionation to remove and concentrate PFAS for efficient destruction make it a reputable partner in the PFAS remediation space. By utilizing Ovivo’s foot-forward initiative, Arcadis aims to broaden its reach and foster this technological shift to deliver tailored solutions across various sectors. The collaboration among Arcadis, Ovivo, and Evocra represents a significant milestone in addressing PFAS contamination challenges.”
