Groundwater Monitoring & Remediation features lessons learned in business continuity and safe operating from the COVID-19 crisis

Arcadis, BT Red Hook and Dow experts share lessons, changes and opportunities from the COVID-19 pandemic in prioritizing essential environmental construction work

The challenges and opportunities introduced by the COVID-19 crisis have driven rapid and potentially long-lasting changes to the remediation industry. In the latest Advances in Remediation Solutions column, series corresponding author John Horst collaborated with Arcadis experts Aaron Svitana and Nick Welty along with program leaders from BT Red Hook and Dow. Together they explore the lessons learned from supporting the continuity of essential environmental construction work, including a project in New York City that operated through the initial spike in COVID-19 cases. The article looks at the changes in normal operating procedure, proven approaches to business continuity planning and field guidance creation, and the acceleration of digital technology relevance, including platforms that allow remote access and public engagement. In the New York City project, these best practices and technologies enabled seamless project delivery without a single case of COVID-19.
