The challenge
A biotech leader is transforming an existing site into a 168,000 sq. foot biomanufacturing center for chromatography resins.
A biotech leader is transforming an existing site into a 168,000 sq. foot biomanufacturing center for chromatography resins.
We executed a full engineering, procurement, and construction management project (EPCM) using one of their sites as a basis.
The project is on-schedule and under-budget as it progresses towards completion in 2026.
A global biotechnology leader focused on delivering the next generation of therapeutics, needed to address the market demand for chromatography resins and increase its production to alleviate pressures. To do this, the client decided to build a new manufacturing campus in the United States.
Arcadis assembled a project team from its US and Ireland offices to deliver this project in a collaborative manner. The Arcadis team completed conceptual and basic design for the site, while also offering detailed design for facility, process, electrical, mechanical, HVAC, cleanrooms, and other processes, such as support for utilities, offices, laboratories, and other amenities. Additionally, Arcadis provided direct input to the design basis for sustainability, wastewater treatment, environmental health and safety, and commissioning as well as qualification.
Through the application of lean methods, Arcadis was able to increase efficiencies and optimize the utilization of over 300 pieces of equipment, including mechanical, electrical, and process. Due to these outcomes, Arcadis has become a trusted partner, resulting in follow-on efforts and additional projects at the client’s other sites.
