The challenge
At first blush, luxury and sustainability are much like oil and water.
At first blush, luxury and sustainability are much like oil and water.
By combining our local market expertise with digital solutions, we helped Aldar achieve its luxury design and sustainability goals — allowing the two to coexist immaculately on the Saadiyat coastline.
Aldar’s Mamsha Al Saadiyat sets a strong example of how luxurious living can also be sustainable from construction to operation.

Only steps away from world-class museums like the Louvre Abu Dhabi, Guggenheim Abu Dhabi and Zayed National Museum is an exclusive beachfront development inspired by the art of the cultural district and charm of the Saadiyat coastline that is nothing short of luxurious. Aptly named Mamsha Al Saadiyat — meaning 'Saadiyat Walk' — for its kilometre-long promenade with walking and cycling paths along the front of the development, all residences benefit from private pools, modern gymnasiums and a variety of dining and leisure amenities as well as direct access to the beach. However, even such a luxurious development strongly believed in respecting the environment and preserving the natural landscape and species in the area as sustainability continues to be a top priority in the Emirates’ building sector.
For our client, Aldar, developing sustainable and healthy buildings that positively impact the community and environment was non-negotiable. Simultaneously, they wanted the development to live up to its luxurious identity. We now had the challenging job to deliver on these two seemingly contrasting tasks using our vast expertise in project, commercial, and health and safety management. By leading a multidisciplinary team involving sustainability and supervision consultants, we concentrated on using energy-efficient, high-quality materials to increase the lifespan of the development as well as minimized and recycled waste where possible to meet its strict environmental regulations.
The growing team and involvement from a number of stakeholders meant we had to find a more efficient way to manage the project, and so we turned to our in-house digital experts who used interactive dashboarding and digital snagging to keep track of its moving parts. We were, thus, able to focus our efforts on working with Aldar to secure environment and sustainability approvals from the authorities by using our extensive knowledge of local markets and supply chains. Furthermore, we closely monitored contractors and suppliers to secure high-quality services and materials fit for the overall look and design that the client was going for.
Undoubtedly, Mamsha Al Saadiyat will give its residents a taste of the finer things in life, whether it's living luxuriously on the beach or discovering art and culture in the museums that are only a stone’s throw away. More importantly, Mamsha Al Saadiyat is a true testament to health and safety, where we achieved 15 million manhours without lost time due to injury which translated to more productive hours for the client and a safe working environment for everyone. With the two pearls it received for meeting environmental regulations, Mamsha Al Saadiyat sends a strong statement that sustainability may just be the new standard for luxury.
