5th June 2023 – One of Arcadis UK and Ireland’s most influential leaders has been appointed to the Board of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
Simon Rawlinson, Arcadis’ Head of Strategic Research, will take on the role of Chair of its Knowledge and Practice Committee for a three-year term.
Simon, who has worked in the construction and consultancy sectors for 35 years and has been at Arcadis since 2010, will take up his role 1 July 2023.

Simon’s very senior and influential non-executive dual appointment will see him report to the Chair of the RICS Board and oversee the work of six practice groups, covering all aspects of RICS’s professional practice including: construction, valuation, commercial property, residential property, land and natural resources and building surveying and building control.
He will also facilitate effective communication between the two governance bodies as well enable the Knowledge and Practice Committee to make effective recommendations and escalate matters of importance to the RICS Board.
Commenting on his appointment, Simon Rawlinson said: “I’m extremely honoured and proud to have been appointed to these pivotal and influential roles as a Board Member and Practice Committee Chair within the RICS.
“My primary role as the Knowledge and Practice Committee Chair, will be to provide leadership and act as spokesperson, whilst ensuring that the committee fulfils its duties in accordance with the terms of reference for the Committee. I’m very excited by opportunities this presents and look forward to officially taking up the role in July.”
