Airbus Logistics Platform in Illescas

This project was like making Airbus a tailor-made suit. And like any good tailor, we listened to their suggestions, explained every new action to them and took a smart, flexible approach to implementing changes. We also facilitated the tenant's early access to the site, as they needed to set up their facilities and equipment prior to completion of the works in order to commission the logistics center immediately after delivery.

Above all, Airbus' logistics platform required quality expectations to be met, and we at Arcadis are serious about doing things right. By using Building Information Modeling (BIM) technology in the project design, we were able to provide solutions that improved the performance of the facilities and met the client's demanding quality standards, as well as successfully passing the OCT inspection (Organismo de Control Técnico — Spanish technical control body) and obtaining a ten-year insurance-backed guarantee for our client.

In addition, we knew that sustainability is one of the distinguishing features of P3 Logistics projects, so we designed the Airbus logistics warehouse to obtain the BREEAM 'Very Good' rating. We used various eco-friendly technologies to achieve this, such as LED lighting, thermal insulation systems and solar panels on the roof to heat the water used in the offices and to power the heating and cooling systems.
