On 16 September 2024 Arcadis Australia, the local arm of Amsterdam-based global infrastructure design and consulting firm Arcadis, announced the appointment of Belinda Virant as Business Area Director for Arcadis in Australia.
This follows the departures of David Raftery and Huai Lim, who previously led our Resilience and Places business areas respectively in Australia and provided leadership as members of the Arcadis Australia Pacific Board.
Chair of Arcadis Australia, Greg Steele, welcomed Ms Virant’s appointment, saying her experience and proven leadership capability would be valuable as Arcadis pursues strategic growth opportunities in Australia.
“In her time at Arcadis Belinda has proven herself to be an extremely effective and agile leader, able to drive significant business growth. Under her leadership, Arcadis’ mobility business within Arcadis has grown over 20%,” Mr Steele said.
“Drawing on extensive multidisciplinary experience she has expanded the breadth of Arcadis’ advisory service into new and emerging markets of interest to Arcadis,” he said.
“We look forward to Belinda’s contribution as Arcadis positions itself for significant opportunities in the Australian market including in energy transition, social infrastructure, defence and the Brisbane Olympics.”
A civil engineer by training, Ms Virant has more than 25 years’ experience in engineering, design management and project management. She brings deep experience in large transportation projects in Australia and the UK, including at Arcadis where she has served as Business Leader for NSW Highways, and since 2021, has served as the Business Area Director for our Mobility business area and on the Board of Directors in Australia. Earlier this year, Belinda was awarded the prestigious Judy Raper award for leadership by UNSW.
Mr Steele thanked Mr Raftery and Ms Lim for their contributions to Arcadis’ business in Australia and wishes them well for the next stage of their careers.
